Mokichi Okada (1882-1955)
Mokichi Okada was born in the old commercial section of Tokyo. He pursued a career in art and business until, in mid-life, a series of revelations from God called him to a spiritual mission. He brought Johrei, the divine gift of healing light, to the world and urged that all people repent and return to God's path. He also taught about the reality of Paradise on Earth to be built after the judgment.
A great spiritual leader, Mr. Okada was also an accomplished painter, calligrapher and poet. He always emphasized the importance of beauty in human life. His art collection forms the core of one of the finest museums in Japan.
