Sunday School classes for first through ninth graders meet once a month at the main church. Well over a hundred children attend regularly to learn the main tenets of the founder's teaching. They begin the morning with prayers and receive Johrei from the director in the main chapel, and then they all go to the seminar house to hear the ministers talk. Youth leaders help individual children when they present their own testimonials. After lunch, which the church provides, they gather in the chapel once more for closing prayers of thanks to God.

This age group has two annual outings, a field trip for plant collecting in late July, and in early August an overnight holiday at the seashore. A large number of church staff and youth leaders accompany the children on both excursions. Dr. Giro Isa, a former lecturer in botany at Kyoto University, had led the botanical field trips for more than twenty years until his death in 1994. These outings are designed to deepen the children's appreciation of nature which, according to Mr. Okada, "declares the beauty of God's works, the bounty of his blessings, and the boundlessness of his love."

Primary school children demonstrate musical achievements at New Year's party. Junior high school graduates each recieve a memento from the director.
