The church staff, guided by the director, conduct ongoing research on doctrine, both in groups and independently. Mokichi Okada's voluminous writings, including the transcripts of oral teachings and thousands of poems, are the main text. Lay ministers also participate in joint study sessions.

The focus of study is the theory and practice of Johrei and the significance of nature farming. Because we believe that every word written or spoken by Mr. Okada is divinely inspired, we also devote much time to studying the theology of his religious teaching. In that connection, one of our senior ministers attends lectures at the Eastern Institute in Tokyo for postgraduate-level research on Buddhism and ancient Indian philosophy. His studies are directed by Dr. Hajime Nakamura, Japan's foremost interpreter of Asian religions.

Reimei Church has a growing collection of books on religion and philosophy, as well as medical science, agriculture, and esthetics. Old newspaper and magazine articles relevant to Mokichi Okada's pronouncements on social, economic and political matters are also available on microfilm. The Reimei Library houses more than 20,000 titles as of the end of 1997.
